Hello everyone! My name is Patrick Barnett. I am 20 years old as of September 30th. I have lived in Cincinnati all of my life. I have two younger brothers. One in 10th grade, and the other is in 7th grade. I currently live in the Forest Park area. I graduated in 2007 from Winton Woods High School. I went to Colerain for grades 9-11 and went to Winton Woods for grade 12.
It takes me at least an hour to get to UC from my house. That also requires me to take two buses. I tend to be on the web a lot. I mainly look at MySpace, Facebook and a gossip site called MediaTakeOut. This is my second year in college, though I am not officially a sophomore. I have had a lot of ups and downs, but I wouldn't change anything in the world. I also enjoy listening to the voices in my head and what they have to say on certain topics. They even have names and certain friends they bring along. I know it may sound crazy, but it always cures my boredom. My life would be one boring one if I did not have my friends to share them with. They help me out with a lot of things. Right now, I am trying to find out who my true friends are. I have had a lot of people who calls me their "friend", but do something behind my back to hurt me. My solution to that problem: get rid of them. If they talk about me behind my back, then they don't deserve my friendship.
My favorite, yet inaccurate sometimes, gossip site: MediaTakeOut

I. Technology Operations and Concepts B. I fulfilled this standard by learning how to use certain technologies to enhance the classroom experience and to make things easier. For example, online gradebooks makes things easier for teachers to input grades. Teachers can still use the traditional gradebook, but now the online ones can calculate things faster and automatically by the specific teacher’s standards. I definitely will be using this technology in the classroom. This will not only benefit the students, it will benefit the parents as well. II. Planning and Designing Learning Environments and Experiences C. We learned how to properly evaluate sites so we know which ones would be informative and which ones were non informative or fake. We evaluated such things as the layout of the site and even the links. This was a fun assignment to do and this can be an assignment that teachers could do with their students in any class so they can learn how to find websites that had accurate information. III. Teaching, Learning, and the Curriculum C. In my presentation I gave in class, the students used Microsoft Word to create a brochure on a story they read in class. They used a brochure template which was available on the list of documents for the program. I like how Microsoft has many programs that fit educational needs. The 2007 version has more things to explore with than the 2003 version. Hopefully, this technology will expand better so we can do even more things with Microsoft. IV. Assessment and Evaluation C. In this class, I learned how to use certain templates, like the rubric wizard, to create our own rubrics. The website we used which was called RubiStar, helped us to create categories that we would use in order to evaluate the student. I also liked how it had many different types of rubrics so we could choose which one would best fit our assessment.
V. Productivity and Professional Practice D. I have learned in my past about the websites that teachers are using to better communicate with their students. For instance, my high school, where I graduated from, used a website called Progress Book to not only inform students on their grades in all their classes, but it also had personal comments made by the teacher along with their class schedule and attendance records. It would record how many times they were late and absent to a particular class. This is a great use to technology because it is something the whole district can use and parents and students can access this technology 24/7. I have also been to schools that used MyGradebook and Engrade to keep the parents and the students informed on their progress.
VI. Social, Ethical, Legal, and Human Issues D. As a teacher, I will come up with some rules to put into play while the students use certain technologies, especially when it comes to Internet use. In class, we came up with some rules that we would use in the computer lab setting. Certain things should be used for grades that would be able to understand how to use them. Elementary kids may not know how to use a scanner or a digital camera to take pictures. High school kids may not know how to use them as well, but it is up to the teacher to learn how to use these materials so their students can learn how to use them as well. Maybe the students can teach the teachers some of the things that we may not know.
