Computer Rules

1) No non-research sites, including: mail and facebook/myspace; No inappropriate sites
2) Cite the material used. Check with the teacher before copying and pasting. Plagiarism is a crime.
3) Make sure site is secure. During your use of search engines, first go to preferences and make sure the safe search or filter is on.
4) Check with teacher before downloading information. Students are not allowed to open any attachments or files without permission for the teacher.
5) Use the sites listed by the teacher. If you find another one that might be useful, get teacher approval before accessing the site.
6) Only .net, .gov or .org websites, no .com sites.
7) Do NOT give out any personal information, including name, address, e-mail, phone number, parents' names, addresses, or telephone numbers, or school name and address.
8) Do NOT download or run any programs without teacher permission.
9) Make sure websites are credible. Look for reliable contact information and links to cited sources.
