My name is Chelsea Gluckman, and I am currently finishing up my last quarter at the University of Cincinnati. I will be graduating with a middle school education degree, and hope to teach 6th grade or 8th grade social studies. I have lived in Cincinnati almost my entire life. I presently live in Oakley with my husband Jon, and our two dogs. When not taking classes, I am a full time nanny for a family I have been with for over six years in Anderson. When I'm not in class or working I enjoy going to watch the Bengals (...well I did), running or when the opportunity arises traveling.
INTERESTING FACTS:
I am an only child; I was born in Vancouver, Canada; and I absolutely love to read. My in-laws are from South Africa, so we make an interesting group of people to say the least. I am MORE than excited to finally graduate and start working.

CLASSWORK AND STANDARDS:
Standard:
I. Technology Operations and Concepts
Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts. Teachers:
(A) demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts related to technology (as described in the ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Students). My Work and How it addresses the Standard: Chelsea Gluckman Wiki
The class wiki we used allowed me to demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts related to technology. Simply by using the wiki I became more literate of the use of the Wiki spaces as a technology source. In order to post to the Wiki I had to search the internet for an interesting website to share with the class. Also by adding to the class wiki I had to learn how to save my work correctly so it would show up nice on the space. Also just searching for this lessons I was able to explore some of the different technologies available in a classroom.
Here are my contribution to the group wiki that can also be included with this standard: Examining Character Traits and Animated Stories Using PowerPoint.
Standard:
II. Planning and Designing Learning Environments and Experiences
Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by technology. Teachers:
(A) design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity. My Work and How it addresses the Standard:
In my lesson plan I used Microsoft PowerPoint in conjunction with Ancient Greece history. The PowerPoint was used by the students to put together a presentation of their group 'city-state" they were assigned. The students were able to use resources such as books and the internet to find fun facts, to then organize on PowerPoint slides. When completed each group would present their PowerPoint to the class, and explain what they learned about their Ancient Greek city-state.
Standard:
III. Teaching, Learning, and the Curriculum
Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning.
(B) Use Technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students My Work and How it addresses the Standard:
(insert lesson plan here). Our lesson plan address this standard because we used PowerPoint technology in order to full complete this lesson.
Standard:
IV. Assessment and Evaluation
Teachers apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies. Teachers:
(A) apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using a variety of assessment techniques. My Work and How it addresses the Standard:
This is the rubric I made from RubiStar. Rubistar is an online rubric generator. Teachers can use rubrics to evaluate their students equally and fairly because all of the expectation are laid out for the students. Rubistar makes making rubrics fun and easy.
Standard:
V. Productivity and Professional Practice
Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice. Teachers:
(C) apply technology to increase productivity. My Work and How it addresses the Standard:
This is the grade book I came up with using Microsoft Excel. An electronic grade book can enhance productivity and professional practice of a teacher. With an electronic grade book you can easily see the grades and progress of an individual student. Unlike traditional pen and paper grade books there is no second guessing. Also with an electronic grade book calculating grades is much fast than using a calculator and paper, thus increasing productivity.
Standard:
VI. Social, Ethical, Legal, and Human Issues
Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of technology in PK-12 schools and apply those principles in practice. Teachers:
(D) promote safe and healthy use of technology resources. My Work and How it addresses the Standard: Computer Rules
This is a link to the computer rules we developed. We addresses safety issues such as giving out personal information and downloading unknown attachments. This follows the standards because the rules help promote safe use of the computer as a technology resource.
REFLECTION:
I learned not to walk away from the computer at Langsum Library, because you never know when it will kick you off and make you lose all of your hard work. I really enjoyed sitting through the class and learning about the endless uses of technology for teaching. I also really enjoyed using Rubistar and Easy Test Maker again, because I feel that these sites can really help me when I get a teaching job. Also I was so excited to make my grade book on excel, I never knew how easy it was to make and use. I will keep this grade book and use it when I go teach. I have used technology most of my life, but this class has opened my eyes to the many different possibilities using technology in a classroom.
