I am Alex Srnovrsnik. I go to the University of Cincinnati and I am a secondary education math student. I have been there for three years and hopefully going for a fourth. I love to play sports and listen to all kinds of music. I used to do track in high school. I was a pole vaulter and have the school record at our school. I set it at 13' 7". I would say that was one of my favorite parts of high school. Other than any of my likes and dislikes, I have a huge family. They are great. I would not trade anything in the world for them. I have 4 sisters and 1 brother, oh and 6 nieces and nephews with one on the way. I like big family events and cookouts that usually happen about five times a year. Basically anything with family is fun to me. I like to play games such as cornhole, and the one where you throw two balls connected with a string to a set of horizontal bars about 25 feet away. I also like to play Xbox sometimes. It's more of a relaxing thing to do instead when I don't feel like doing much or just not feeling well. I have a girlfriend, Kristina who I have been dating for almost two years now. She is really great. The best thing about her is how well she gets along with my family. I think college has been some of the best years of my life. Although this is true I can not wait to graduate to start my life. Other than that I am very happy with where I am in life as of now, just taking it one step at a time. My favorite website most definitely has to be Youtube. It is very interesting to see all the crazy videos on that site. Another awesome cite is Southparkzone.com. They have all of their episodes which are hilarious! I am also a big sports guy so I like to look at ESPN.com for all my sports updates.

Artifacts of My Work:

Title: The Human Body: An Online Tour
Contributor: Alex Srnovrsnik
Subject Matter: Health, Biology
Grade Level: 8-9
Description: This is a great way to use virtual reality in the classroom. This site had many ideas to use for more than one subject. This lesson plan involves looking at the Virtual Body, BodyQuest, or Human Anatomy website to collect information on the human body. You would split up your classroom into pairs giving each pair time on the computer to go through the virtual tour of the human body. After this you would have them draw each other on a piece of construction paper and label certain body organs giving them a word bank of the organs to label on that paper. If students finish quickly you could have them do a crossword puzzle that uses words that they had just learned through the virtual tour. The use of the virtual reality gives the students a better understanding of why we need certain organs and how the organs work. It makes it more interesting for the students to learn and keeps them active in their learning environment.
Computer Environment/ Resources: You will need a computer lab with internet access, and a large roll of construction paper and markers for this lesson plan.

Reflections/Artifacts for Teacher Standards

I) Technology Operations and Concepts
b) Demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies.
With one of my online textbooks I had to do it on emerging technologies. I had used a lesson plan that used virtual reality to better express the human body. The lesson plan that I had done is an example of demonstrating continual growth in technology knowledge because I learned a lot about virtual reality learning and how beneficial new emerging technologies can be and are going to be.

II) Planning and Designing Learning Environments and Experiences
c) Identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability.
We all had to create a software evaluation. These presentations meet this standard because we learned the criteria used to evaluate software for its usefulness and effectiveness in the classroom.

III) Teaching, Learning, and the Curriculum
d) Manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment.
A reflection of this is exactly what I am doing. The Class Wikispace is a great example of how the students learning activities are being managed. We have to put up all of our tests/quizzes, gradebooks and just about everything that we have learned into our own portfolio to tell the teacher what we have learned and the activities that went along with it.

IV) Assessment and Evaluation
a) Apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using a variety of assessment techniques.
The best example of what I had done in class that reflects this is the rubric. The rubric was designed to assess work of a student based on material that he/she learned about. This is a good reflection of applying technology in assessing student learning because we had to use an internet rubric maker to be able to make a rubric suitable to assess a students material in a variety of ways. Here is my rubric:

V) Productivity and Professional Practice
c) Apply technology to increase productivity.
The reflection here would be that we had to do the grade book. It taught us how to use excel to make grading easier by letting excel do the math for you. It is an example of applying technology to increase productivity because it helps the teacher grade faster and more accurately, giving the teacher more time to do whatever else needs done. Here is my example grade book:

VI) Social, Ethical, Legal, and Human Issues
d) Promote safe and healthy use of technology resources.
Just last week in class we had to come up with rules for a class to follow when using a computer and more specifically the internet. This is a good example of promoting safe and healthy use of technology resources because it makes sure your students do not access anything inapropriate according to the school code of conduct.
